DVD doesn't start with menu

I created a menu that looks great in preview mode but when I burn and then play the DVD the menu does not appear. The video plays automatically. I can access the main menu from a button I put in each chapter but that seems to be the only way it will work.

How do I get the menu to appear when the DVD is loaded?

When you first start a new project it asks whether you want, Menu based, Music Compilation, Picture Compilation or Single movie.

The Menu based option starts by going straight to the first Menu - the only exception being when there is a first play movie, which plays, then goes to the first menu.

I've just had a look and I can't see a way of changing this once a project is started - can you remember whether you chose this option?

If you did, could you possibly have made your movie a first play movie rather than dragging it to the first menu?

Check the Project Overview window and see which item has a purple square with a white star in it. That's your "first play" item, be it a menu or a video. If it's by the wrong item, select the correct item and click the Set Disc Start icon at the top of the Project Overview window.

I am having the similar problem, i made 2 menus and 2nd menu did not showed up, only the first one with main title.

I really hope Sony comes out with nice video tutorial, i don't mind paying for it.

I'm sure someone could help you figure out why if you provided a little more info. ;-)

Is the "2nd menu" a sub menu or another page to the first menu? Does the first menu have a button leading to the second menu? If so, what happens when you click "click" that button (as the project is playing)? If nothing, check the properties for that button -- specifically, look for anything in red (like "Broken link").
