DVD from Vegas Movie Studio won't burn!

I have had multiple problems attempting to burn a 30-minute video to a DVD. At first, I dubbed the movie to my Panasonic DVD recorder, imported the events to Movie Study, edited and attempted to burn a DVD. Nothing worked when I exported it to DVD Architect. It stated it had successfully burned--but would not play either on the computer or the DVD recorder.

After many frustrating hours, I finally called Cox technical assistance. They had me save the file with an extension: ".m2v" This worked!

However, after recording my next video, I saved it with an ".m2v" extension and it refused to work. The only differences between the first successful video and this one is that I recorded it on wide screen and I imported it directly from tape to software (instead of the DVD recorder). I suspect neither of these changes should make a difference

I have tried recording with an ".mpg" extension also. In both cases, the video now has another extension ".vf" immediately following the extension I chose (that is, "Worship 8-6-06.m2v.vf" or "Worship 8-6-06.mpg.vf").

I have rendered the video and saved the video in these formats, exported to DVD Architect Studio and all I get is a black screen.

Any assistance you can give is appreciated.

Rev. Harry Rix

Please note: I could not locate the video or sound card information, but I paid additional money to get an advanced video card and have never had a problem with sound.

Please help if you have any suggestions.

What steps did you take to "render" this movie -- ie, you went to File and then what? And how long did it take for Vega Movie Studio to "make" it?

I ask because .VF is the extension for a Vegas Movie Studio project file. So if it added that extention, chances are that what you did was Save or Save as, not Render. A VF file is simply a "list" of instructions for VMS -- it tells the application what clips you used, how you trimmed them, effects you added, etc. But before you use your output in DVD Architect (or anywhere other than VMS, for that matter), you have to render to an actual video file.

If you, in fact, did render a video file, but there was a .VF extension added somehow, remove that and see if doing so helps. If not, reply back.
