DVD menu music starts at loop point

I have a DVD motion menu with background music. The first part of the menu before the loop point is an animated intro with the buttons fading in. Here's the problem: when the menu loops, both the video AND the audio start abruptly at the loop point, which is 3 seconds into the music. When the menu loops, I want the video to start at the loop point, but I want the audio to start at the beginning. How do I accomplish this? I have seen it done on commercial DVDs. Do I have to create two menus, one for first play, and the other for subsequent loops?

You don't have separate loop points for audio and video.

So you'll have to add silence at the beginning of your audio file to adjust the cue time.

OK, thanks.

I would like the music to start at the beginning when the menu is first played, and then at the loop point afterwards. I would have to use two separate menus (one with silence inserted at the beginning of the audio) to accomplish this, correct?

I believe you would, but this is not something I've tried.

Personally i think it's conceptually simpler to have a separate lead-in menu, then have a second menu that loops. This would also just happen to solve your problem.

However, as an avid DVD watcher, i'll point out that most everyone who watches DVDs gets tired of waiting to be able to watch the content. I always advocate having a button to play the primary content show up on the screen as soon as absolutely possible. Personally i can't stand forced lead-ins. So, if you do go this route, i would suggest the initial lead-in menu also has buttons to play the content on it.
