Billy---I dont know whats going on with Ulead---I recently downloaded their new product 3DStudio----full of bugs and render times that might mean that you could expire before your 3 second clip is ready to go into Vegas---The wierd thing is that the program has huge potential at a great price point---Beyond that, Ulead has the worst customer service I have ever encountered----

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. My download went o.k. but I think it was 70 odd megs, took hours and hours of course.

I just checked their web site again. Ulead claims the file size for DVD Movie Factory Two is 38 MB, which is what my two downloads show. Also it appears to be the full file, and a automatic installer.

Just curious, I downloaded at about 2:0OPM, and again around 5:OOPM, each file was
39,901,836 bytes and I downloaded both times off their FPT Server #1 and got the United States version.

You guys download before or after and did you get different versions or from a different FTP server?

Also what OS are you running? I'm using XP

I'm using XPPro and cable internet connection. No problem with the download or installation on Movie Factory2.0. Dial-up is a nightmare because the long download time makes the file a sittin' duck for the smallest blip to cause corruption. I used to download big files at a friend's crib before I got our cable connection.

Gotta agree with Rextilleon on ULEAD's new 3DStudio...it's way too slow when rendering anything. I went back to using their old Cool 3D until I see a patch for the 3DStudio.

You broadband guys make me green with envy. I'm still on dialup, though we should be switching our three household computers (Dad, Mom, Daughter) over to Wi-Fi in the next month. On the positive side, I changed our phone service from conventional POTS (Qwest) to cable (ATT Broadband). Imagine that, phone service delivered via Cable TV! The dialup connection is now rock-solid and never drops like the twisted-pair service did. Still, all I get is 49kb/sec, max.

Just DL'd from ftp#2 (9:40 a.m.)- took around 45 mins on a corporate LAN - still far better than from home on my 28.8 copper lines. Using XP Pro. File size 39,901,836. Will try installing later today here/this weekend at home. fwiw.

They have the ABSOLUTE worse support of any company i have ever dealt with.....

I made some posts on their forum (the forum they refuse to have any officials comment/post on) a while back on how their DVD workshop 1.3 doesn't work with windows 98

No curse words - just basically asked why they wouldn't even acknowledge the problem - NOR even post some kind of warning [at LEAST SOMEWHERE on their site]that installing their current patch on win98 will render app unuseable - and to simply uninstalling the patch DOES not fix the problem (gotta mess around with reg & autobat)

don't get me wrong, i wasn't POLITE about it and challenged them for a response.

They deleted my posts.

THAT REALLY ERKS ME.

NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM - thank god the only app they produce that's worth anything (DVD Workshop) will soon be crushed by SoFos new DVD authoring product - i have no doubts about that!! =)

I'm not sure whether you were talking about the trial or the real version. I got fed up waiting for the trial so I paid for the upgrade. The zipped file was bigger than I thought - I just checked and it was 90 Megs and seems to have included the free paint program that comes with it to make labels etc. Also you asked about operating systems, I use Windows 2000.

Overall impressions of the program are that it's worth $35 and does some things very well like generating automatic chapters and is pretty quick but the editable disc function took so long to write the disc that I gave up. It does load vobs but seemed to create a separate title for each chapter in the original.

I agree that their customer service could use a boost. I once wrote asking for help as I had lost my key reg number for DVD MF 1 and they never even replied. Luckily, I found it. Like you all, I'm waiting to hear about DVD Architect.
