DVD plays fine on PC but cropped when on DVD player/TV

Hi folks - I'm using DVDA version 5 build 128 (quite old, I know). I've pulled an mp4 file onto the timeline and burnt it to a DVD-R. The (widescreen) video looks great in the preview screen and plays perfectly on the PC. But when I play the DVD on a DVD player/TV, the picture is slightly cropped, all around (emulating an old CRT screen displaying safe zone). If I change the TV settings from 16:9 to 'Just Scan' it plays great. I've tried this on two different TVs and two different DVD players. Have tried buring to DVD-R and DVD+R discs. Same deal. So, while it IS possible to overcome, I'd rather not have people to have to go into their TV menu to watch the video as intended. Any thoughts really very mush appreciated as I'm out of ideas.

Window 7 64 bit, BTW

Thanks

The cutoff on all TVs is different. Nothing you can control. If it is important to be seen on all TVs, allow extra space.

It sounds like you may be caught in a battle of aspect ratios between your TV and your disc player. (Since the disc plays fine on your computer, you know that the problem isn't with the disc.)

Set your TV's aspect ratio to Set by Program.

Set your disc player's aspect ratio to 16:9. (Commercial discs usually trigger this function automatically -- but sometimes, with home-burned discs, you need to set it manually.)

That should do it.
