DVD Puzzle

Client has to push play/stop/play to get past opening on DVD.
Project plays fine in my Sony player and on computer.
This is DVD-R authored in DVDA-3.
She's playing on Toshiba player that could be 3 years old.
Any thoughts on solutions apart from getting her a new DVD player?
