DVD Quality Poor When Played on TV & Can't Capture

I am a new user of Vegas MovieStudio & DVD4. Have previously used Ulead Video Studio8 & resulting DVD's were great quality, but found the program limiting so that is why I bought the Vegas product.

The problem on the burned DVD is that when ever the camera 'pans' it looks very 'jagged' and jerky. If nothing is moving, it looks great.......I have tried the same files on Ulead8 & the quality is great.

I think the problem is caused by a Field Order conflict probably caused by the fact that I can't capture in the Vegas program & have been using an older Canopus EZDV program to capture & then load the .avi files into Vegas.

I have not been able to get Movie Studio to recognise my camera & capture through the Vegas capture program. I have a Panasonic MiniDV NV-DS99, which is 5 years old. I connected the camera to the computer using a PCI 1394 Firewire & the i-link on the camera. I have tried all the suggestions in Help & yes ...the camera is connected, switched on & set to playback mode ! I am running Windows WP Prof with Service Pack2.

I live in Australia, so use the PAL format, which uses Lower Field First setting in the rendering template. I have just discovered if I right-click the video file in the time-line of Movie Studio & select Properties, then Media Properties.....it says the .avi file is Upper Field First, so I think that is my problem. I can change the field order there by selecting Lower Field first from the drop-down list. Would that work????

Would love to hear any suggestions & any ideas to get my camera to work in Vegas Capture.

I agree, it sounds like a field order problem. I would go ahead and try switching the field order.

Thanks discdude.........I have done that & just burnt a perfect DVD.

Still can't capture into Movie Studio4 as outlined in earlier post, so would love to hear any suggestions if anyone knows an answer.
