The two discs are the same, only changes the label :-)

I make my DVDvideo with the data discs on a standalone DVD recorder and no problem.

It's marketing hype. The disks are the same. That's not true in the case of CD-Music disks, which have some sort of watermark that distinguishes them from generic CD-R blanks. The watermark shows that the disk vendor has paid a royalty to the music gods in Hollywood. The standalone CD copiers look for this watermark, since it is assumed that music will be copied.
