DVD Recorder

I have a Daytek DVD Recorder with a firewire input. I would like to record from Vegas "Print to Tape" or "Preview Device", but it will not recognize the recorder. Apparently, it sends nothing out the firewire port if it cannot recognize what's on the other end.

Does anybody know how to get Vegas Video 3.0 to recognize a DVD Recorder as a device? Or how to get it to send the stream out the firewire port?

Thanks.

Have you tried to switch off device control (if V3 even has that option).

Thanks, Liam. I've tried turning off device control. Do you know if VV 5 recognizes DVD Recorders?

Hapeman,

I believe that Daytek is the clone of LiteOn (5001) stand alone DVD recorder.
I had LiteOn 5001 and it could not recognize FireWire output from PC. I think it was disabled by manufacturer.

Then I bought JVC DR-M10 DVD recorder. It works like charm with Vegas 5.
I load AVI file into Vegas timeline. Then I use "Print to Tape" function to record to JVC directly from timeline via FireWire. Vegas automatically starts recording on JVC when the time comes, and automaticaly stops it. Beautiful!

I think this JVC recorder is the only one that works with PC FireWire output.

You can buy this JVC model for $250 now.

Thanks, Kab...

It never occurred to me that the problem might be the Daytek (Lite On) recordre instead of Vegas, but I'm glad to hear that the JVC works. That may be the direction I have to go.
