DVD Shrink import from my .avi's?

bill-kranz wrote on 11/25/2010, 11:38 AM
Hi:

I have not been able to convert my .avi's to iso files yet but I read where
I can import my .avi's in DVD Shrink and compress/burn from that point.

Is this a valid way to proceed?

I do not want to dl this yet unless I can find free software to convert avi to iso or
know that DVD Shrink can perform this task.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks,
Bill

DVD Shrink is designed to shrink DVDs not AVIs.

An ISO file is a disk image, right? Why do you want a Disk image of your AVI files? AVI files are video files.

Confused on what you are trying to achieve.

Thanks for your knowledge about this aspect.
I am pretty sure Shrink can work from an internal .iso file/image
and I know there is conversion software that can encode .avi's to .iso's.

So, my rationale is to use that method as I indicated.

My base problem is getting a 5.25 GB .avi onto a normal sized DVD R to be played
on a older standalone DVD deck/player to TV with no PC available.

Soon I will try a dual layer DVD but am not sure it will play on the older DVD player.

1. Use Vegas to render your AVIs to mpeg. After that you have several options to proceed to output DVDs.

2. DVD Shrink IS free, although there are ripoff artists that charge for it, stay away from them.

To do what you want, first create a DVD file, not an image. (although an image might work)

Then run DVD shrink and use the DVD VideoTS file. It will then shrink that file to another DVD file that will fit on a 4gig DVD.

You have to create the DVD first, using an MPEG file and your audio, you can do it straight from an AVI file.

It's called DVD Architect.

baysidebas::

HI, I did that conversion to a Mpeg 4 and the new size is 111MB.

I will send that to my friend and see if it plays.

Thanks, Bill

Why not use the DVD prep 'n burn that now comes with VP10?

Hi. I plan to order the 32 bit V 10 soon and will look into that option.
I do not have the DVD Architect installed due to weird issues with Sony.

Thanks,
Bill
