I recently saw a product advertised called "DVD Squeeze". It supposedly
compresses a 2 hour DVD file to a CD-ROM. Anyone know anything about it?
Would the program use a DIVX or MPEG-4 codec? Is this possible and with
good quality playback at a full screen size?
I've gotten spammed for this software so badly, and the price keeps dropping so steeply, that i can't believe it's worth anything. If it was any good then they wouldn't have to resort to such sales tactics. *ahem*
That being said, it produces CDs that (should) play in a standard DVD player, and that means they're probably MPEG-1 VCDs at a low bitrate to allow for two hours. So, you get low resolution and high compression. It's certainly not going to be like the original DVD quality.
I would be cautious of any program that made these kinds of claims. Iām not familiar with this one, but I heard that one of them was just a collection of freely available tools from sites like vcdhelp.com and you would be foolish to buy the CD when you can download them for free. Since picture of the box on the web site is literally a Ulead DVD MovieFactory box with their own name super imposed on it, I would say this product is very suspicious of being a fraud.
