DVD video extraction

Hi, Can you inport video from a DVD into Vegas, if so how? I have a friend that uses a Mac and has program that allows him to extract video or sound from DVD and re use it. Is there a program that will do that for Vegas?

Vegas 6c or 6d: File / Import / DVD camcorder disc.

Note that this probably won't work with copy-protected commercial DVDs.

He might be using something that is equivalent to DVDShrink
