DVDA 1 IOTCL error while burning on external burner

I purchased a mad dog 7 in 1 dual dvd burner. I ran dvd architect one on my old dell pc with windows 98 and burned a dvd with this external burner with no problems. I tried the same set up on my sony vaio laptop (xp) and it doesn't work. I get the IOTCL error that some of you others have gotten. I only have nero express, and it won't burn my large dvd files. Will the full version of nero burn dvd architect files? This is very frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sony Laptop and sony software should work together!

Sounds to me like the Sony laptop and the Sony software is working together - it's just your Mad Dog external burner that the software doesn't like.

By the way, while it's all the "sony" name, the division that does the laptops may not have very much communication (if any) with the division doing some of the software.

You've basically got 2 options at this point - make a formal problem report to Sony (click on the support button) about this issue and wait, wait, wait for them to try and fix it. Or spend a few more dollars and purchase some other burning software that makes specific claims to support your particular burner.

The same software works with this burner on my dell pentium 3 pc with no problem. It seems that if it works on one computer; it should work on another.

DVD Architect has also stated a problem with the internal burner that came with the laptop...This is just frustrating!

Thanks for your input....
