DVDA 3.0a - DVD+R speed shows only 4x

Using a NEC 3500A, with Ritdata 16x DVD+R media, the burn menu only shows a choice of 2x and 4x.

When using Ridata 8x DVD-R media (all else the same) shows 8x.

Any idea whey Sony DVDA doesn't see the faster DVD+R media? THe burn rate is about 4x btw.

More likely the firmware on your burner isn't up-to-date, assumin ghte NEC supports burning at 16x (I don't recall off-hand).

Right you are! Updated the firmware 2.16-2.19 and the DV+R indicates the 16x option. Need to remember to do the updates when using OEM parts!
