DVDA 4.5 and Windows 7

I've been using Vegas Pro 8 and DVD Architect 4.5 for about a year. Recently bought a new computer with Windows 7 64-bit, and now I have problems burning DVDs with Architect.

The discs finish without an error, and can be played, but at somepoint during playback the video and audio both almost completely drop out: black screen/frozen screen, etc.

Examine the burned side of the discs reveals something odd. The burn usually would have be a distinct stripe all the way around the disc. On these discs the stripe fades in and out.

I'll try to describe this. Picture the DVD sitting upside down in front of you. The burn may be fine out to maybe an inch diameter, then past that, the burn shows only between 12 o'clock and 3 o'clock on, and 7 o'clock and 10 o'clock. But even these are not distinct breaking points, but rather the burn seems to have faded out and back in.

Does anyone have any experience with something like this?

Really sounds like a problem with the burner itself rather than DVD Architect or Windows 7. I can't think of a reason why software would cause the disc to end up like that.

Or does this only happen with DVDA and not with other burning apps?

Have you looked at your burner's home site to see if there is updated firmware for Win 7?

I recently saw a case of burn area fading in and out in concentric rings. A change of burner fixed it.
