dvda 4.5 mac compatibility

I authored a disc in DVDA 4.5.

Used Nero to transfer the VIDEO_TS folder onto the dics.

Based on my experience, this process makes solid DVDs that play on all computers and DVD players -- except for Macs.

Mac laptop owners always come back to me and say, "I couldn't get it to play."

Any guesses as to why?

Next time one of them tells you it won't play, ask them what happens when they try. Do they get an error message (and if so, what is it)? Or does the disc just go unnoticed? And these same users, are they able to play other DVDs on those same Macs?

Also, you specified Mac laptops. Does this mean that Mac desktop users were okay?

Well, I specified laptops only because these Mac owners only had laptops. I'm not sure if Mac desktops work fine or not.

Are you delivering on +R or -R media? Also, what brand of media?

Maybe Macs need to see the AUDIO_TS folder as well (even though it's empty)?

Interesting thought. If I did that, it shouldn't affect the Windows PC DVD players -- or should it?

Lots of newer players aren't so picky, but some are. My old Apex 1200 would play almost any video file on any disc, even stuff downloaded from the 'net and burned to a CD-R. However, put a DVD without the AUDIO_TS folder in it and it would sit and spin forever without recognizing the disc.

The newer Magnavox DVD recorders i've got don't care about the AUDIO_TS folder, but they won't play much of anything besides DVDs.

I use DVDA to burn my DVDA projects.

No problems from mac users.

Nope. DVDA automatically creates both VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS folders. I burn those and have never had a problem.
