DVDA 4.5 Will Not Complete Burn Process

Hi,

I am using VMS6 and successfully rendered a 3.6gb mpeg file. That's the good news. Next step was to use DVDA 4.5 Trial Version. I created my menu and submenus fine. I then went through steps one and two of the preparation process fine. The last step was to burn and it immediately stopped with a SFMMCX-(17) blah blah blah error.

I've ready several threads about possible solutions (ie. update drivers, use different media, use different DVD burning software, etc.).

1. If I go the use a different DVD burning software route which do you recommend? i.e. Easy Creator 10 or Nero or freeware or ?
2. What file do I import into the new burning software?
3. and then can I now create a new menu/submenu structure?
4. Any other suggestions /ideas welcomed. Thanks.

1. Doesn't really matter. For the most part, burning software is burning software -- it all does the same thing. Just be sure whatever you use burns DVDs.

2. When you prepared your project, DVD Architect asked you for an empty folder to put the files. There, it created a VIDEO_TS folder and a AUDIO_TS folder -- the former has several files in it, the latter is empty. In your DVD burning app, add these two folders (including their content) to your project and burn this to a DVD.

3. Don't need to. You already did that in DVD Architect. The prepare step creates all the files needed for a DVD.

4. You could give us the rest of that error message, and maybe someone will know what to do about it.

I've never added the AUDIO_TS folder when burning DVDs using Nero. I don't know about other burning software.

An alternative is to have DVDA create an iso file and burn that, e.g. with ImgBurn.

The AUDIO_TS folder is for compatibility. Some DVD players have a fit if it's not there.

Oh yes, but some burning software, such as Nero, create it automatically.

Thanks for the feedback...

I successfully burned my latest project onto one DVD. I tried several types of media (DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW). The memorex DVD-RW was the one that worked for me with my setup. The others seemed to fail for one reason or another. With a little blood, sweat and tears it is working. Just have to remember to do the "little" things.

Thanks again, Brian
