I am new to dvda and need help in making chapter, menus and animating them. I have been successful in making Blu-ray dvd of 1.30hrs long project but menus were messed up. Can somebody help me.
I bring video and audi by double clicking on it and it show up in Project Overview window,
then i drag same files from explorer to timeline and make chapter but it does not show in project window, therfore i have no chapter is seen when i make Menu in work space i cannot find any chapter to drag as the time line also show only menu theme and buttons.
I called the support which i am still entitled to but they will not train .
Anyway if you can send me step by step intructions, i can go from there.
There are more than a few ways to go about building a menu-based project, but I'll go over the most common and basic way.
1. Open DVD Architect. If you've worked on a project before, DVD Architect might open the most recent one. Or it will open with a new and blank menu-based project. If it opened a project, but you want to start a new one, go to File > New, choose Menu Based, and click OK.
2. As you've done, double-click a video you want to add to the project. Not only does DVD Architect add that file to the project, but it creates a button on the main menu for that project. This menu is what the viewer will see when he loads your disc into a DVD player. That button is what the viewer will select to play the video you added.
3. That button is also what you will double-click in order to "Navigate" into that video so you can edit its properties. (Alternatively, you can right-click the button and choose Navigate Into. Or just select the button and hit your Enter key.) If you look at the timeline, you'll now see the content of your video.
4. On that timeline, you can now set chapter markers. Place your cursor where you want a chapter to begin and hit "M" for marker. Do this for all of the chapters you want to set.
5. If you want a chapter selection menu -- one of those menu that shows a list of chapters so the viewer can immediately play from that point -- use the dropdown list above the workspace to select the main menu (by default, it's called Menu 1) or double-click that menu in the Project Overview window. Then, right-click the video's button and choose Insert Scene Selection Menu. Note that this menu is based on the chapters that exist when you create the scene selection menu. If you make changes to those chapters, they will not be automatically reflected in the menu. So either be sure you have the chapters set up the way you want or be prepared to re-create the menu.
I suspect that what may have been happening is that you were dragging files from the Explorer to the main menu's timeline. All that does is add the file(s) as the menu''s background, which isn't what you want.
Try that and come back if you need any clarification.
Thanks, I have been able to make chapter, move them into buttons and animated them as well, you have been very helpful. I started to burn BD, i will see how it come out.
I made BD disc and quality was pretty good, used 25bg disc and used only 18 of it , the project was 1.25 hrs and it took 3.45hrs to finish, is this normal, i have zeon 3.0 dual core with 4 gb of ram.
Also i put 4 minutes of first play video and then Menu 1, can i put a transition between
first play and Menu 1, also i like to make 2 or 3 menus with some kind of effects in between.
I've been following a Webinar by Gary Rebholz entitled 'Creating DVD's & Ble Ray Discs' using the link 'Support' at the top of this page.
Gary encourages rendered videos to be located in the root menu and this enables various editing options for the buttons to become available. Whilst Gary has been using 3 separate videos in his creation of a DVD I have had to modify it somewhat because I am only using one. By using the 'Insert Scene SM' and 'Navigate Into' menus I have created a tree as follows in the left hand panel.
When attempting to burn the DVD I receive the following menu re 'orphaned' so obviously something in the layout of my tree isn't quite right and although I have read the help regarding orphans I have to say that in all honesty that I'm still a little bit lost.
Could someone kindly advise, possibly by use of illustration, of how my tree should appear in order to not receive this message. Thanks.

I see your first play is MENU1, does menu 1 link to your scene menu?
