DVDA 5.0 serial #

I received an e-mail from Sony stating that the new 5.0 was out and I could upgrade to it if I was a 4.5 registered user. Well I downloaded it and it installed separately from 4.5 and is asking for a serial number. The 4.5 serial doesn't work. does anyone know what I may be doing wrong?

Ya, you say your installed it seperately. At this point, DVDA Pro 5.0 is designed to to replace 4.5.

I'm building a new computer, to install DVDA5, I downloaded the upgrade and activated with my DVDA4.5 serial, 4.5 was never on the system.

I just noticed something. My 4.5 is DVD Architect Studio & this is DVD Architect Pro. could that be the problem? it says I need to have a serial number that starts with 1CR- and mine starts with 1D2.

You can not install DVDA if you have the studio version of Vegas, only the Pro version.
