DVDA Build 156

AlanADale wrote on 9/21/2011, 1:06 AM
Just noticed that there is an update to DVDA.......Build 156.
Has anyone installed this yet and can post an opinion of it? I'm reluctant to myself having experienced problems with Build 150 and AC3 files. I'm currently still running Build 128.

The release notes associated with Build 156 say.......'what's new in Build 150'........which is a fat lot of good. Come one Sony, where's your attention to detail?

I haven't tried it, but I see this in the release notes:
Notable changes in version 5.0 (Build 156)

Fixed a bug that prevented DVD Architect Studio from opening AC-3 Studio files rendered by Vegas Pro and Vegas Movie Studio software.
Fixed a bug that could cause DVD Architect Studio to crash when opening some M2TS files.
Fixed a bug that caused the Show Me How tutorial index to be displayed in English when running localized versions of DVD Architect Studio.
Fixed a bug that could cause problems when setting the Destination value for an end in the Japanese version of DVD Architect Studio.

Where did you locate those release notes Barbult? I can only find release notes appertaining to build 150 and that's by going to the top of this page > Downloads > Updates > Clicking on DVDA and then release notes.

I found it here:
[Link=http://sony-984.vo.llnwd.net/dspcdn/releasenotes/dvdastudio50_readme_enu.htm]
I got there from inside the program by clicking on Help->Sony on the Web->Latest Updates.

Strange. When I click on the link that you provided or visit the updates page from the 'Downloads' link at the top of this page all I see is a reference to build 150 (mentioned in paragraph 2). The same applies when I check for updates from within the application itself.......no mention of build 156 whatsoever.

I just installed build 156 over build 128 that came in my Movie Studio package. It went through the normal remove old files etc. but when I went to use it DVD Architect was gone. There were no shortcuts to the program. The directory for DVD Architect held only about 70 MB of files instead of nearly 200 and of those there were no program files. It appears that it removed the old files but did not install the new ones.
When I tried to reinstall my original program it wouldn't let me until I uninstalled build 156 which I did. Then my sound was disabled. My final solution was to restore my system to a point from the day before and I am finally able to use my system and DVDA again.

Boy Atlantis, that is really strange that when you click the link you don't get the same info I get. I clicked the link in my previous message again, and I still get the info with 156 at the top of paragraph 2. Would you like for me to email you a pdf of the release notes? I believe I can email you through your username in this forum.

No, there's no need to forward a pdf copy of the release notes Barbult. What you have already stated will suffice........but thanks all the same.
Yes, it's very strange that by clicking on the link you provided we are both seeing different things. I simply haven't got an explanation for that at all, but just so that you know I'm not imagining things LOL, here's a screenshot of what I see.

I see that your image shows a release notes date of July 2011 where mine shows September 2011. I wonder if you are seeing a cached page. Maybe if you clear your internet browser cache and click the link again the new page would show up.

Have you tried the 156 software yet? I haven't. I'm kind of in the "leave well enough alone" mode right now. I see the one other user tried and didn't have such good luck.

Yup, clearing the cache did it........thanks, I would never have thought of that.
Have I used 156 yet? No, not at this time and seeing that one user hasn't had much luck as you say, I think I'll be staying with build 128 for now. A bit old now but at least stable enough for me.

Apparently build 156 does not like to install over a previous version. I got a reply from Sony support to completely uninstall the previous version using the following page for guidance in Win7 64bit. There is a link there for XP and 32bit versions.

Myself, I used Revouninstaller at the moderate level to remove DVD Architect only. After that I was able to install build 156 successfully.
I have not used it much so cannot comment on changes.
