DVDA does not recognize burner.

I have a Sony dru-500A DVD burner with latest firmware update. I have uninstalled all other burning software and rebooted. I then ununstalled DVDA and rebooted and reinsatlled from download site and re registered. But still when I go to the "Set Burn Parameters" dialog box my DVD burner does not show up. I have used DVDA before with much successbut I am at a loss now. Is there something changed in the registrty that is "blinding" DVDA from seeing my drive? Please help. I had other DVD authoring software on my computer but would like to stick with DVDA if possible. After all I have shelled out some serious dough... Thanks everybody.

Beside DVDA I have Nero and Roxio and still I am able to burn from DVDA.
I do not think that the other software are in conflict with DVDA.
Does other burnung software are capable of "seeing" your burner?

I guess I should have mentioned that point. Yes, I have no problem burning with the other software. They recognize the DVD burner and proceed to burn discs flawlessly. So I really am at a loss as to what to do next other than do a complete reformat of my system and see what that does, but of course, that is my last option.

I am not good with model numbers and my Sony burner is at home so I can't see the #. I have the same problem with my Sony DRU whatever external (running via 1394) if it is not powered up when I start the PC. All I have to do is shut down then restart with the switched on. For what it is worth, DVD Complete usually does not see the Sony, no matter what I do. Weird, eh?

Yes, this is the internal model. I have never had any problems until late. No matter what I have tried it just does not "see" it.

Anybody else have similar problems?

I don't know what to tell you about the internal model, but I have the external Sony, the DRX-510UL, and there are occassional times that DVD-A does not recognize it. For some reason if I either turn the DVD drive power switch off then on, or eject the disc and reinsert, this always cures the problem, and my burner drive then pops up on Architect. I have not had an occasion yet, where the drive did not eventually get recognized.

I have the same problem with the external model. XP sees the drive, but DVDA does not. I have posted here before, but the message has gone missing.
