DVDA, encoding, color PROBLEM!

My source file was an uncompressed QT file originated in Maya. When I encoded to mpeg2 using DVDAs native codec and burned the DVD, the colors we're all wrong on the final product. What did I do wrong? The colors looked fine on my computer through QT player and in the DVDA preview. But after encoding the darks were too dark, lights were too bright, etc.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Were they at least the correct colors? Perhaps you're monitor needs to be adjusted if the file appeard correctly on your monitor. Have you tried any other software to make this DVD with better results?

I watched the encoded file on the same monitor as the original file. The colors are what changed the most. Darks way too dark, colors oversaturated, brights to bright. It seems to be a direct result of the encoding process, and I made sure to not add any color correction in the encoder. I tried encoding the file in Cleaner 5- and it looked way better, but DVDA would not accept the file unless it had been encoded with the DVDA codec. I'm kinda new to mpeg2 encoding, so maybe I'm missing something.

OK, so BOTH files were viewed on the monitor. Is there an overlay setting in your video driver? Did you view it on a TV as well?

I had recently gotten an Nvidia GeForce FX5700, and when I play back MPEG files, they are much darker than when viewed on TV. I had to adjust the overlay setting to compensate. It only happens with MPEG2 DVD compliant files, and of course, DVDs.

What did you encode the file to in Cleaner 5? As long as it's a DVD compliant file, DVDA "should" accept it, otherwise it should convert it, as it did the original QT file.
