DVDA issue

Hey folks...

I had an issue today with a DVDA project, and posted in that forum. I don't want to cross-post, but there doesn't seem to be much activity over there lately. Maybe someone could take a quick look at the http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?MessageID=623223&Replies=0thread[/link] I posted. I'd sure appreciate some input.

Thanks!

Tom, did DVDA say the last disc was 4.9 GB or did you check the file size and found out it was that size?
I say this because DVDA has a long history of incorrectly reporting file sizes.
I use a bitrate calculator a lot but still check the combined (video+ audio) sizes to confirm that I am indeed under the limit.
If DVDA still tells me that it's over the limit, I just ignore it and hit Prepare and have never had it not do what it's supposed to do.

No, it wasn't that large--but it wasn't 4.6GB either; which is what DVDA told me it was the second time around. It was however just 4.51GB, so I suppose that the 4.6GB size was the file plus the menu data from DVDA. That I understand, and I looked at the size of the file after I created it and saw that it was almost 200MB under the 4.7GB limit of the media. But I was confused as to where it got the 4.9GB number from. but the answer musicvid gave in the DVDA forum makes sense now, I guess.

I'm not really sure *why* it overestimates the size when it has the file size, and also knows the size of the menu data...but hey, I can live with that right now.

Thanks guys.

Tom, keep in mind that a 4.7 GB DVD only holds 4.37 GB. (base 2 vs base 10) so this is the total you should be aiming for.
