DVDA not recognizing DVD -R DL disks

I'm having a problem here - Murphy is camping out in my basement.

I have replaced my "old" Pioneer DVR-107 burner with a new Pioneer DVR-111D DL burner. The new burner can use DVD -R DL (dual layer - sorry) but DVDA 3.0c recognizes my disks (RiDATA DVD-R DL, 8.5gb 4x) as CDR media and won't let me burn...

I then went and purchased a second DL burner, a PLEXTOR PX-750A . Same thing - both burners have the latest firmware and the disk maker says their media are compatible with the drives, or is it the other way around...

Has anyone else had the same problem???

MY project ( a dance recital) is too long for a single layer disk - I can get it to fit, but quality suffers too much during playback...

Now if I just find where Murphy is hiding I'll boot his *ss right out the door...

Slowing going insane in north Idaho

I dont know if this helps but I had to can my Plextor drive cause Architect wouldnt let it finish off a burn at all. Ended up with the Memorex Dual Layer drive this morning and things record fine. I have not tryed burning DL yet but I'm taking baby steps after Murphy spoiled my last week.
The drive was a Plextor 712 SA with the latest firmware.

I've just had the same problem and when I look at DVDA specifications.....I see that it makes no mention of DVD -R DL, only DVD +R DL is listed. D'oh!

So I burnt it to the ISO writer thing and used Nero to make the DVD -R DL disc. But my newish Toshiba DVD player wouldn't play one of the chapters. I will try +R DL, but I get the feeling I'm gonna be staying clear of DL for a while.

i have the same problem and have tried everything i can to fix it, the only thing is, that, it worked perfect for me one day, then 3 days later it started with this problem that you are describing, and i cant get it to work, it does the same thing on two diffrent systems, ive even tried reinstalling windows with no additional programs installed and it still sees DVD-R-DL media as CD-R

This is a problem i hope is being addressed by sony, as it seems i am not the only one having this problem, i love DVDA it is very simple and very powerful, i hate Encore, but thats what im having to use, becuase DVDA woulnt even create a dual layer image...So hopefully this is a fix we will see in 3.0d

Squeeks, I don't think you will see any more updates to DVDA3 with DVDA4 being released in the September timeframe.
