DVDA Recompresses SD AVC on BluRay

I'm playing around with burning SD (720x480 DV) onto BluRay disks using Vegas 9's Sony AVC codec. This resolution is supposed to be supported by the BluRay spec, but DVDA is forcing a recompress of the video, even though the project settings match.

Anyone know why DVDA is recompressing the standard-def AVC video?

Are you saying that you're putting standard definition video in and trying to get hi-def out? That would require a recompress.

Well,

This works fine with mpeg-2 video (DVDA does not try to recompress), but not AVC, so it's probably another DVDA bug. 720x480 is supported by the BluRay spec, though I suppose the usefulness of the resolution at BluRay bitrates is limited.
