DVDA Studio 4.0 hangs(warning)

I just spent 2 hours trying to figure out why DVDA Studio 4 hung when clicking Make DVD. I finally went into Device Manage and noticed that under DVD/CD-ROM drives there was my SanDisk Titanium Cruzer . I took the Cruzer off my PC and DVDA worked fine. Could this be considered as a DVDA bug?

TIA

This exact same thing happened to me the other day, and I still don't know exactly what caused it!

The only thing I do know, is that I had mistakenly installaed Vegas Update 7.0d, thinking it was an update for VMS 7, and I had gone ahead and uninstalled it. After this, each time I hit "Make DVD" in DVDA 4, my whole system just froze.

After several hours of trying to figure it out, I went ahead and uninstalled all my sony media software - VMS 7; DVDA 4; and ACID XPress. I then reinstalled (all but ACIDXPress) and it seems to work again. However, I have noticed that when I click on Make DVD, there is a noticeable lag before the window comes up.

Any thoughts?

It seems that DVDA searches for CD/DVD devices before presenting the initial Make DVD window. That is why mine was hanging, I guess DVDA doesn't know how to deal with the thumb drive(san disk cruzer) when windows thinks its a CD/DVD drive.

Funnily enough I also have recently been leaving my Kingston DataTraveler stuck in a USB port! I've also recently added an external hard drive, connected by USB.

Could these be having some effect?

I don't think so. Right click on My Computer and select "Properties" then click on the "Hardware" tab and then click on Device Manager and expand "CD/DVD ROM drives". See if your usb drive is listed ther, it should not be listed.
