DVDA Studio 5.0 : Simple Menu with Big Problem

Tried The Multipix.com Guide and online help but cannot solve what seems to be the simplest problem. It must be me...

I have a movie followed by two sets of photographs edited in Movie Studio Platinum 12. They are all on the same timeline. Markers appear at the start of the movie and two more markers at the start of each set of photographs.

In DVDA I have set up the main menu to have two buttons : MOVIE and PHOTOS.
Hitting the MOVIE runs the movie - BUT it runs on through both sets of photographs.

Hitting PHOTOS takes you to two more menu buttons : PETE'S and BOB'S
Select PETE'S and you get Pete's photos - BUT it runs on through Bob's phtos.

I can't get each of the three sections to end and go back to the main menu.

Can anyone point me in the right direction please ?

From DVDA Help:

Create a menu that returns to the scene selection menu after playing the selected scene/chapter (manual scene selection menus)
Add a title to the menu you want to use as a scene selection menu.

Select the title's button in the workspace or select the title in the Project Overview window.

From the Edit menu, choose Copy. The button is copied to the clipboard.

From the Edit menu, choose Paste. A copy of the button is added to your menu.

Even though you're creating multiple copies of your title, the title will be saved to the disc only once. Multiple titles that use the same video, audio, and subtitle tracks will only be saved once on the disc. For more information, please see the Optimizing Your Project topic.

Repeat step 4 for each scene you want to be able to play from the menu.

Set the in and out points for each button:

a. Double-click the button in the workspace or double-click the title in the Project Overview window to open it.

b. In the Timeline window, position the cursor where you want the button to begin playback and click the Set In Point button or drag the in the time ruler.

c. Position the cursor where you want the button to stop playback and click the Set Out Point button or drag the in the time ruler.

Repeat step 6 for each button.

Another way is to create separate files for your three segments in Vegas instead of one all inclusive file.

Start a new project with menu in DVDA, and drag your three files to the main menu. It will create a button for each file, and by default, play will return to the main menu and not run on. You can however change the end action to something else if you wish.

Many many thanks. I have copied your advice to my Help Folder and can now study it at leisure.

Thank you too Peter. When I woke up this sunny morning I had made up my mind to do as you advise : split the project into three. It may be the easiest solution, but by putting flags, or markers, on the timeline of Sony Movie Studio, I would expect DVDA to handle them as I thought it would. I was surprised when it didn't. Thanks to both you guys.

petefc,
It's the DVD structural hierarchy, and has nothing whatsoever to do with Architect. I don't exactly understand why you would presume otherwise.

1. Chapters within a title play on until the end.
