DVDA Studio PCM only?

Is it true that DVDA Studio will only write uncompressed PCM audio? Please say it isn't so!

I'm not asking it to encode AC-3 or MPEG audio, just burn a pre-prepared file I give it. DVDA Studio claims my MPEG is non-compliant if I give it an MPEG with anything other than PCM audio.

Sure there is a need to distinguish the full product. But PCM only? C'mon Sony, that's going too far.

That's what it looks like to me - PCM only. There's no option for AC3 on the project properties, so since you can't change it, you're stuck with PCM. I have to agree it seems kindof silly to have this type of restriction.

For some inexpensive authoring software that doesn't have this restriction, you might want to check out DVD Lab at www.mediachance.com

most of the cheappy stuff i've used gives you a choice of PCM or mpeg. Some didn't though. That version of DVDAS are you using?

Richard,

For the record, AC3 and PCM are the only audio formats available in the "full product" of DVD Architect. MPEG audio is not considered "compliant" in the NTSC world (although it is in the PAL world).

If you give DVD Architect (full program) a "pre-prepared" file with MPEG audio, it will re-encode it to AC3 or PCM.
