DVDA Studio Scene Selection

joeldecker wrote on 11/30/2004, 6:45 AM
I just tried creating my first DVD using DVDA Studio. I created a simple menu with a 'play all' button and a Scene Selection menu.

The 'play all' works fine, but when I go to the Scene Selection menu it stops just as if I had pressed the 'stop' button on the DVD player's remote. (If I then press 'play' the main menu comes back up like it should.)

Any ideas on what might be causing this?

Thanks,
Joel

First, make sure you're running the latest version of DVDA Studio.

Does this happen when you play the created project with a software player? Have you tried other players and gotten the same results?

This could be one of those ugly player compatability issues. If it is the only thing I can suggest is possibly trying some other authoring software and seeing if you encounter the same problem. DVD Lab has a fully functional trial version (www.mediachance.com).

I believe I am running the latest version. (I'm not at home so I can't double-check right now, but I will.)

It happens when I try to play the DVD with XBox. (I know the XBox has several compatibility issues, so I won't be surprised if this is one of them.) I haven't tried another software player or another stand-alone player. (Note: It doesn't happen using "Preview" in DVDA Studio.)

As soon as I get a chance I'll try the DVD in some other players.

Someone else (Bryan - bansl) entered a message about this same problem in the Movie Studio/Video Factory forum. He got the problem with his "brand new megabucks Pioneer player".

He had previously been using Pinnacle Studio 8 to create his DVDs and the scene selection menus worked fine.

Well, it looks like it may just be one of the (many) Xbox incompatibilities.

I tried the DVD in my computer with Windows Media Player and in my other stand-alone DVD player and the scene selection menus worked fine in both cases.

I guess I'm either going to have to use another DVD creation program that handles the Xbox incompatibilities, or just accept that I can't use the scene selection menus when playing my homemade DVDs on an Xbox.
