DVDA v4 crash

Here's the deal.... I launch DVDA v4 and, without doing anything else, go to add media, I add a 40-minute .M2V file and an associated .wav file, both of which have been generated in Procoder v2. (I had already used these files in an Encore project and DVDA didn't complain when it opened them, so there seems to be nothing wrong with the files.) I then drag the file and drop it on the menu and then double-click to open it in the timeline. It loads into the timelline and goes off to generate the peak file for the audio. It has crashed during this process every time I have tried it. I have tried it with other Procoder generated files and the same thing happens. I simply cannot open them in the timeline without DVDA v4 crashing.

The thumbnails seem to be updating across the video track in the timeline while DVDA is building the audio peaks it will stop updating the thumbnails, the audio peak building continues for a few more seconds and then BOOM, CRASH! Anyone else?

I recall seeing a recent report on the Vegas forum about Vegas crashing when building audio peak files. Probably same code base. As there's a 7.0a update for Vegas, you might check to see if there's a 4.0a for DVDA.

<edit> nothing for DVDA 4 yet; you may want to go ahead and apply the Vegas 7.0a update (if you haven't already); if it's a shared library then it might resolve the issue.

Scott,

I installed Vegas 7.0a to begin with, however, I installed Vegas first, then DVDA. It's a long shot, but I'll try installing Vegas again. Until I can get to the bottom of this, DVDA v4 is useless to me.

I do 99% of my authoring in Adobe Encore anyway, but every time a new version of DVDA come out, I give it another chance. Doesn't appear that I'll be switching from Encore anytime soon...
