I can't get DVDAS to recognize my Sony 530UL burner. I've burned one disc, but looking back, I may have "prepared" the files and actually burned them with Recordnow. Which means that DVDAS has never seen my burner. Any tricks to "turn it on"?
I dont know about preparing the drive. I burned my first test yesterday with a Sony 500 burner.
Did not have to do anything. Just chose prepare and burn , it asked me what speed and then burned. The only strange thing I saw was that after it ejected the disk (+RW) it "shut off" the power to the DVD burner and I had to reboot to get it back.
How do you have your DVD burner connected to your system - firewire or usb? Have you tried the other connection type? Make sure you have downloaded and installed the firmware update available on this Sony Storage Support page - http://sony.storagesupport.com/dvdrw/drx530uldwn.htm. The drive you are using is the same as we currently bundle in the Vegas+DVD Production Bundle and should work just fine through a standard connection type. If you are still having problems with the drive recognition, contact Technical Support here - http://www.custcenter.com/cgi-bin/sonypictures.cfg/php/enduser/ask.php.
I'm going to try the two suggestions in the knowledge database--
1. start program with no disc in drive, and
2. check "skip database, auto detect setting" in prefs.
