fwiw... a few weeks ago I downloaded the trial version of DVDFab hoping that the BluRay to DVD converter would improve on the HD -> SD DVD process much discussed in this forum.

In just a few words - I was very unimpressed.

I "think" this is the DVD only version. Haven't opened it yet to see.

The problem with this particular download: 1) the terms & conditions states that there are "no free upgrades to future versions." DVDFab is always releasing new versions, and this free version can't upgrade. 2) When you download the normal trial, at the end of the trial, most of the functions don't work, except the standard "HD Decrypter," which appears to serve the same function as this "free" version. Once you copy a DVD with the "HD Decryper" function, then Handbrake can do a better job anyways rendering to the format you need.... uhm, for purely research and educational use, of course.

This version gives you a license that's good until January 24th, 2012, meaning that it will be eligible for updates for approximately 1 year.
