DVI -HDMI Vegas studio

I have bought a DVI to HDMI lead to go to my television, so as to be able to edit and see the full screen image of what is being edited, so as to be able to judge the edits better. One thing i cannot figured out is how to get the vegas software to do that. is there a instruction area for it that i've missed or is there an obvious way to do it that i've managed to miss?

Assuming your video card has an HDMI output, it should be pretty straightforward.

Open your Project Properties (clicking on the button on the Preview window).

Under the Preview Device tab, select your Device from the drop-down (in your case, your HDMI output). Set the other things on this panel as necessary.

Then just click the Video Preview on External Monitor button on the Preview window.

It should play whatever video you're previewing on your external device. (Assuming, of course, you've also got Windows configured to recognize your TV.)

(FWIW, this is one of the things I show you how to do in my book.)

Steve,

Thanks for this info.

I have a DVI output from the computer, hdmi to the tv. (DVI came with computer so video card must incorporate it.) The computer recognises the second screen, has one screen as normal computer screen, the other with a usual desktop backdrop.

I've got it better but for some reason the preview stays on the computer monitor screen, bigger than before but not going over the the other screen, once i've clicked video preview. would that be a video editing software problem or something i'd have to sort in my computer?

Did you set your Preview Device in Vegas MS, as I recommended above?
