If you are working in a software paradigm, the ability to preview your work (included composited tracks) is really nice. In other programs you have to pre-render tracks and it takes a lot of time. The preview is often choppy if you have a lot of compositing, but you can still see the result, make changes, and then preview again without ever going through the time consuming process of rendering completely. If you have an external device (a TV or DV camera) you can also see your composited work on that device and see how it will fit, the color, brightness, etc.

This is one of my favorite features in Vegas.

Not sure what's happening here: my hp zt1000 laptop has 256mb and up to 32mb *shared* video, but VV3.0a says 95mb is my max available. I'm not necessarily having problems with the preview (though I turn it off for capture and render), but would like to make as much mem available.
