E-mailing audio files

What is the best format to e-mail audio files? I'm needing to convert wav to mpg to compress it, but i want the best possible quality...

That's your most universal bet. I'm seeing more and more WMA since Rhapsody & Yahoo subscription services have gotten popular, but MP3 is still (IMO) the way to go.
