Easiest way to trim long video?

Hi, I'm new to the program, and I have several hours of raw DV footage that I would like to edit down to just a few minutes.

What is the easiest way to trim long scenes into several shorter scenes?

I would suggest you open the file(s) in trimmer, place markers on your in/out points, then select each section and add to your timeline. Just go to your explorer or project media tab, right click on the video clip you want and select open in trimmer. Then click the trimmer tab and you will see your selection waiting for you.
