Echo Layla 24 5.1 ASIO help needed

In Vegas 6.0c, when using the ASIO Echo WDM drivers with an Echo Layla 24, I can't always get the designated channels to steer properly, or at all in some cases.

I've turned off all systems sounds.

I'm running Channel 1/2=L/R; 3/4=LS/RS; 5/6=Center/Sub

For instance, though indicating it should be coming out of the Layla's channel 6, the sub comes out 4 and nothing comes out of 5 at all.

When I switch to Windows Classic Wave Driver it works exactly as it's connected.

Then, inexplicably, after switching back to the ASIO driver, it might work again. Or not.

Why doesn't it stay set the way I set it?

By the way, this weird steering happens in stereo mode, too.

The indication I get that something's changed is when I notice I'm not hearing stereo both channels are coming out the center channel -- which should not even be active, since I'm in Stereo, not 5.1.

you know, I've had this happen with my Echo Gina a couple of times. I wonder if this is a little bug? Wish I had a solution...
