Look and see what's happening in your mixer panel.

Nothing's happening in the Echo mixer. I moved the playback sliders up from -40 to 0. But there's no activity in the vertical "light bars". I see the Analog Out is set to 3 & 4 but nothing registers there.
Are there any specific directions for the Echo cards relating to Vegas?

Just the normal setup in Options/Prefs/Audio hardware...setting up outputs there. Have you done that already?
Do you have system sounds enabled in Windows Control. Panel? They should be off.

SysSounds are off.
In Vegas:Options/Prefs/AudioHdware: ASIO Echo WDM.
All default playback devices are Layla3G analog 3/4;
Defaulkt recording is Layla 3G analog 1.
Windows Sound & Audio Devices set to Layla3 analog 3/4 for playback.

I had the Intel SoundMax audio disabled in the Device Manager. Just re- enableed it and can now hear playback. But isn't that supposed to be off?

I just have the umbilical cord from the Layla to the PC connected with the headphones plugged into the Layla front.

GOT IT TO WORK!!! Thanks for your help and patience, SPOT. In the Echo Mixer I set the analog out to 1/2. It was set to 3/4 for some reason. the problem was in the mixer!

Glad it worked out. It's almost always in that stinkin' mixer. :-)
