I've searched and read several threads on how to eliminate echo using techniques involving phase inversion, compression and slipping the two audio sources slightly. I can never get them to work at all.
The thought occurs to me: Is it actual echo (long interval with distinct reflection of the sound) that is being reduced with these techniques or is it reverb?
I'm sitting with a multicam project wherein the sound board operator forgot to start the CD recorder that I use for a good clean recording of the narrative in a play. There is considerable reverb in the room and I'm trying to reduce it even though the lines are very intelligible.
Even though two of the cameras are within 18 inches of each other, the echo reduction hints do not work. Am I misunderstanding their use?
Thanks,
RalphM
