I have tried it. Although it says beta. it is really solid. I run it on an audio-tuned system, PIV 1.9, 512MB Ram, Layla 20 card. I really can see a difference.

I just installed it and went to work on a mix and found it (pure wave) to be inconsistent. It stuttered, hung a few times -- this didn't seem to change with various buffer settings -- and was unresponsive it terms of calling up effects (the screen draws were much slower than with the WDM drivers). I'm using a Mona. I'm curious though, it sounds like a great idea.

George: Can you say more? What is your impression of the Pure Wave drivers compared to the WDM? How's the performance, flow, etc.? What are you noticing? Thanks!

Are you setting this in the echo control panel?

the default is 2408, why go to 256?

Hi drbam,
Sorry it took me so long It's been very busy here.
I only updated because of this post by SonicEPM (by the way Thank You), because I picked this card up years ago when it first came out, I didn't think I could get any more performance out of it. So I thought what have I got to lose?
Actually I was VERY surprised.
Mind you, I didn't collect any data before updating my drivers,
but I had some heavy Vegas and Acid sessions that I knew skipped on my P-3 800 with the v5.06 drivers that now play fine, also before Acid Pro 4 we use to track all of our Softsynth live from the 800 into the 1.7 system and I could never get the latency down at the 64 sample levels with out the distortion. Pro-52/53 FM-7, Absynth, B4, Lounge Lizard and Kontakt (standalones) all play fine.
Even though I can run it at 64, more than likely I'll leave it at 128 just to be on the safe side if I need to run heavy sessions.
I will be updating when they release the final version.

Thanks George! I'm getting ready to upgrade next month to XP and will definitely check out Echo's 6.05 driver. I'm using a Layla 24 which I love (currently with 98SE) so this should eventually end up being very worthwhile.

I did the same thing about 2-3 weeks ago, XP is so much better (for me) than Win98se or Win2k.

Thanks George. Yes I've finally been convinced that XP is now the way to go but I've got a couple of projects I need to finish before I get into all that. I'm not really a system tweaker so I want to avoid any unecessary panic attacks if the upgrade doesn't go smoothly! ;-O
