Edit Cursor behaviour

True North wrote on 10/6/2015, 9:39 PM
I am looking to change the behavior of the edit cursor in the timeline.

When I click on an event in the timeline the cursor goes to the point in the event that I click on.

When I press play the cursor of course moves and when I press stop the cursor goes back to the starting point where the cursor initially started.

Is there a way to get the cursor to stay at the point in the timeline when it is stopped?

Not sure if my explanation is clear, let me know if you need more information, thanks

There is a preferences check box for making the cursor play/pause vs play/stop.

You can change the space bar to pause or use the enter key.

Perfect astar, thanks!

I actually saw this option in preferences but I didn't think it would alter the behavior the way I wanted....I suppose I should have just tried it out.

Thanks for the tip

I prefer to keep the space bar as stop and use enter to pause. That way, i still have stop if i want it.

What might be nice is if there was a function to swap the two functions.

I never found much use for the "stop" function. I very seldom want to go back to original cursor position.

Oh, i use it all the time. If i want to review some small section over and over again, it's really easy to use the space bar. This avoids losing a loop region i may have already set elsewhere.

... and the space-bar is so much easier to find !
