I added 2 separate wav files into VMC 9. To one file I added audio effects. The other file in a separate track with no audio effects. When they are in the time line the second track sounds exactly like the first track. (as if I added identical effects to both) I turned off all effects but they both still play as if effects were still turned on. In the media project window I can play both files and they sound normal (no effects). I converted the file I want to be normal to mp3, sounds fine, until I put it in the time line. Anyone see what I am doing wrong? Thanks

How did you apply your audio effects? There are two ways (within Vegas Movie Studio):

1) click the Track FX... icon at the left of the track in the timeline window, or

2) right-click an audio event and click the "Apply Non-Real-Time Event FX..." choice.

The first choice applies whatever effects you choose to every event in that track, and the second choice applies whatever effects you choose to only that particular event.

(There's a third choice, and that's to apply effects outside Vegas Movie Studio, such as with Sound Forge or some other program, but that's not generally as convenient.)

The track I want effects applied to, I applied via the Track FX icon. The file I want no effects is in a separate track. As my project now looks: I have the first audio track effects muted, the Track FX icon shows an "X" and there are no effects applied via Non Real Time. The second track has no effects and never has had any applied. They both sound as though they have effects applied.

Found the problem. I do not remember doing this, but I had applied the effect in the master volume control. Muted the effect and the tracks now sound normal.

Oops, I left out a fourth option for adding audio effects (third way within Vegas Movie Studio):

3) click the Master FX... icon at the top of the Mixer panel.

Whatever effects applied with this affect all audio events in all audio tracks equally.
