Edited - Video Crossfade Issue/Question

sonicvision wrote on 3/15/2022, 6:02 PM

I have a 20 minute project made from on file cut up into clips in Vegas. I have crossfaded all cuts but for some reason 2 clips won't crossfade and just looks like a cut. I was able to resolve one clip by moving it to another track and manually fading them but though in preview it crossfaded, render didn't show it.

Thanks.

What I'm seeing is white for a selected event and blue for a non-selected event. In your first image, the right video event is selected so it's white. In all other examples you show, non of the events are selected so they're blue.

Oh, is that all it is? I will take a look again when at machine. Still curious as to why just to clips won't crossfade.

@sonicvision I was just going to write what @jetdv has written, looking at your Signature you have a 2GB GTX 960, i suspect it's your PC that is struggling.

@Former user for types of projects I do, including some way more complicated ones than this, the computer is fine. In fact, with the latest Vegas build seems operation is even better, including 3rd Party FX etc. I believe there is another issue at play here not related to hardware. I messed with the one (of two) problematic sections and did a test render and it worked. Doing full render now.

@sonicvision Ok,

Vegas creates temp files, sometimes if an event struggles the problem will repeat even when you reload that event because Vegas uses the orig temp (bad) file related to that media name, so try renaming that file & re-import into Vegas so it creates a new temp file..

you could download MediaInfo, it's free, https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo after downloading, right click in your Windows folder on the two media clips that struggle to crossfade, open MediaInfo, choose Text from the View option, select all, copy & paste in a comment here, someone will tell you more about them.

Came across a tutorial about cross dissolves in Resolve, where I was able to get the 2 clips to dissolve very nicely that wasn't happening in Vegas. So applied the same advice there and they worked. Just shorten the ends on each of the clips butting each other and dissolve works. In this case I was fairly certain it would turn out to be something I was, or was not, doing vs hardware or media issues.
