Editing 5.1 audio - is there an easier way?

If I ungroup the audio from a clip in the timeline and select all the channels then I can change the gain for all the channels simultaneously but I have to do "in and out" fades on each channel individually. When you have to do this on a lot of clips it becomes very time consuming! Has anyone found a better way of doing this?

Bus tracks and automation are available in Vegas Pro.
You might want to download the trial and experiment.

In short, no.

I thought that might be the case!

I've often considered upgrading to Pro but for all the editing I do the cost is prohibitive. Maybe one day....

The best you can hope for is when it is played on a decent 5.1 Receiver that it will be able to decode as 'pro-logic' and simulate the surround sounds, otherwise there is nothing you can do UNLESS the original source was recorded using multiple channel mic setups.
