Editing against source timecode

Client has given me quite a bit of stuff to edit off DV.

Typically its say 5 minutes of video that he wants sections of replaced.
So his instructions are something like "from TC a replace with TC b to c from tape 2 etc."

Now this should be a piece of cake. But I cannot really see how to do this.
As soon as I drop the original clip onto the T/L the only TC I can get is the new TC. I suppose I can try to line up the TC in the main original clip with the VV T/L, work out how to trim the replacement clips in the trimmer as I understand that is the only way to cut against source TC.

Anyone got some better ideas and sorry if this is bleeding obvious, I use VV a lot but never had to worry about TC before, seems to be a bit of a foreign concept to VV working this way, one that I didn't mind until now.

If it is a single clip - add the timecode fx to the media (in the media pool).

If you have multiple clips from the same tape, and the custimer instructions are in tape TC - you can show the TC via Options->Prefences->Video and select the Timecode for "show source frame numbers on event thumbnails..."

Probably a script to move to the correct time code can be usefull.
Also you can try the trimmer with the CTRL-G to go to the correct time code.

Hope it helps.

Thanks Udi,
like I said excuse me if the answer is obvious. Well it was so obvious it was laready in front of me on the timeline!

Some days I just forget how easy things are in VV, I already had the 'Show source time code' turned on.

Guess it just freaked me out as I have never really used it before and there it was already right in front of me.
