Editing FLV files with Vegas

My company ran a contest on YouTube! and now I need to edit all of the winning entries. Is there any way to trick Vegas 7 or 8 (I have both, prefer 7 still) to edit FLV files without any conversion?

Also, if not, what's the best way to convert and FLV into a format Vegas can handle. I have Total Video Converter which a few years back was the only thing that could do it, but it always sllllllllllllowwwwws the audio down and then I have to convert the FLV to an MP3 and match the audio. Is there a better program?

it is free and works pretty good. you can purchace a upgrade version for $21 and it says you can make higher quality video.

Before working with the youtube uploaded & converted videos i'd be contacting the people who submitted those entries and see if you can get AVI or even DVD versions of their videos and work from those instead.

Yeah, I know, but we don't want to deal with that and we want them to be authentic in quality.

I've worked YouTube! videos into our presentations before and its fantastic, but the scope of this is huge. Usually I'm converting and saving 1 or 2 videos, and this time I'm converting 200.

TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress works very well for me converting FLV files into many formats.
