MPEG is not in any way an ideal source format, and there's
little we can do about playback performance. You might try
dropping the video preview quality to draft- at least
you'll get a better frame rate for making your edit
decisions.

MPEG is really a destination format, but we decided to
allow you to put in the timeline becuase sometime you so
need to edit it. Its a double edge sword-
