Editing off DVD-R

I'm not that technical savvy, so bare with me.

I'm editing a video for my cousin and he gave me a DVD-R that had some footage. I can't import the media from Video Vegas 5, so I downloaded DVD Shrink and saved the media files to my hard drive, but I still can't import the media (they're saved as .IFO, .BUP, .VOP)

What do I do to convert these files into a format I can edit on Vegas?

Change the extention from .vob to .mpg and you should be able to open them in Vegas as long as PCM audio or Mpeg-2 audio was used. If the video has AC3 audio, you need to convert it to wav in order to use it in Vegas. :)
