I dont believe after downloading trial that it still has the same ugly windows colours .did you guys ever take the time to look what a modern video editor should look like very disapointed
The first thing that comes to mind is an old cliche. Don't judge a book by it's cover.
First, I would submit that this V14 version was fully developed by SCS. MAGIX only purchased a very short time ago. We all know what SCS thought about Vegas over the last few updates and selling the software is another indication.
Depending the the release schedule MAGIX wants to put forth it would be V15 or 16 before really big changes might occur. A UI look change will probably happen given the market out there.
Personally I care about how something works, and not how it looks but would welcome the ability ot set custom colors.
Joe-gallagher, the whole point of the Windows UI for Vegas is that everything you need is right there in a totally familiar environment. 'Slick' GUIs take longer to learn and use. UIs like AfterEffects or BorisRed have a daunting array of sub-levels that make for a far more complex user experience than need be. Compare Adobe InDesign or Illustrator with Xara. Xara takes far fewer mouse clicks to do the same thing as either of the Adobe ransomware products. I've been using Vegas since it began as Video Factory and I still find it the fastest way to get from idea to finished project. So I say leave the UI alone - it works a treat!

thank you for the reply but to be honest you can fool some of the people some of the time but you cant fool all the people all the time think about it
I prefer the VP13 GUI over any other NLE that is out there. It is efficient and doesn't strain my eyes as many of the dark interfaces. There are small areas that can be approved, like a better right click context menu here I can change the edit tool fast.

Im sorry but your living in the dark ages check out premier pro cc thats what i call slick and does what it says on the tin . Vegas 14 is so out of date its unblievable .I was hoping for something very different to vehas13 but they werent capable over and out. Pro res my ass every nle has it. Magix sorry but 100% failure and everybody knows it. stick with 13 everybody until they cop on a little
Sorry bit I can't share this view --- and this is not a question of resisting change or because of a need to cling to the past.
Vegas is a comprehensive and generally well equipped NLE (even though there may have been a trouch of backlsiding on this front over the past year or so while Sony considered the future of Vegas). The GUI is clear witheverything being available at the click of a button on a menu bar that you design to suit your own needs, on one of the various headings or with a right click of the mouse. As I've said in another thread, slickness in itself is not a merit in it's own right and is often there only to give a sometimessuperficial visual impression of modernity, Newnewss isn't always synonymous with efficiency or improvement. The Vegas interface is clear and intuitive and I should be sad to see any significant change being made.
Just goes to show that you can't please all of the people all of the time:)

Im sorry but there is nothing different in 14 if im honest i would say its not even as good as 13 there not Sony and never will be pro sumer stuff at best even their own nles look better and dont tell me looks dont matter unless your in the dark ages. Its a disgrace to be looking for money for that upgrade, an insult to the word upgrade.Give me one good reason why you would go to 14 and dont say prores/bugs.13 was as solid as youll get
I have to agree with OldSmoke. A medium grey interface is better than a very dark one, especially when you are doing color correction. Your eyes need to chromatically adapt to the neutral chromatic axis of the screen if you want to do color balancing accurately. You can't do that if the interface is close to black.

A lot of people disagreed about Vegas 13 being as solid as it should have been! This is borne out by the number of posts aboiut this on the old Vegas forum and elsewhere --- my guess is that much depended on the hardware they were using but I might well be wrong on this.
As for my living in the dark ages because I prefer something based on an existing model rather than something that's brand spanking new! Well, I am a customer and one of many who have taken this view in this and other threads. I like to think I'm open to progress (and many acquaintances would say that I am) but I am not uncritical in forming a view about its worth and I don't think anybody should be ready to set aside their judgemental values merely to grasp at progress for its own sake. In any case, please re-read the last para of my previous post.

Hmmm, Comparing audio capabilities of the two forget about the dark ages, premiere seems to be living in ancient Greece, and not in Socrates' neighborhood either, but somewhere in the mountains playing with sheep excrement
