I noticed in the VV3 EDL text file that the "times" are not in SMPTE code. Why is that, and what do those odd numbers refer to? Can they be converted to SMPTE?
maybe you can use the 'Edit Details' window to somehow get the numbers you need. you can have it just show 'Events' and copy the data into an EXCEL spreadsheet, where you can integrate it with other data.
Thanks. I was able to translate the Edit Details list to Excel. Now, do you know what the column "Take Start" refers to? I assume it is the specific reference to the time on the original capture file (at least I hope that's what it is, and that it is frame accurate, i.e. does not include a pre-roll). I guess I can verify that by opening the original capture and jumping to those points to see if they match the clips on the timeline. If this works, I may have most of the info I need...
As far as I can see, all the times in the Text EDL are in milliseconds.
So, divide by 1000 to get the times in seconds, and then divide by 60 to get the minutes, and by 60 again to get the hours of the SMPTE representation. To get the frames part of the SMPTE representation, multiply the part after the decimal point that you are left with after converting to seconds by the number of frames per second you are using - 24, 25, 29.97, or whatever.
